Brand Paige - Warning Some Coarse Language
Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 10:02AM Welcome to the newly branded blog!
As I would with any client undergoing a new identity initiative, I “interviewed” myself with respect to the vision, positioning, personality, values and brand promise of Paige Freeborn Integrated Brand & Marketing Communications. The result of my interview is what you can now see as the new look of my blog including a logo, tagline, and graphic device.
I can honestly say that sitting on one side versus both sides of the interview is much easier!
Under different circumstances, I would not share the brand framework of a client too readily. One of my brand’s core personality traits, however, is transparency. The other personality trait is “without bullshit”. There was no better word I could find in the English dictionary than “bullshit”. I am undertaking a small mission to eliminate bullshit from my life and the lives of the people around me – this includes my clients and, in turn, their communities. The word is now in my brand framework.
It is also important to note that this framework is not cast in stone. A strong, mature brand recognizes that it must adapt or die (or at the very least fade into the background). As we grow, learn, and change, so must our brand. The challenge lies in striking the balance between adaptation and ownership – or identification. We must not change so much that we are no longer recognizable, ownable and unique. We must be able to sway gently with the changing winds of every day life yet always be recognized as the owner of our offering.
So without further ado, I share with you the brand framework that has driven our new look and feel, along with the conversations we will have and the language we will use.
As always, I look forward to your ongoing feedback and conversation.
The Brand Framework
Vision:
To counsel our clients on the most effective, exciting, and enticing ways in which to tell their brand story. Without boundaries, without bullshit.
Positioning:
Our clients come from many different industries, backgrounds, boundaries and experiences. They in turn have communities comprised of many different backgrounds, experiences, needs, and boundaries.
We meet the communications needs of our clients by understanding their unique conditions and the unique conditions of their communities. We aspire tell their stories without boundaries, and without bullshit.
Brand Promise:
We will help our clients connect, engage, and participate with their communities, encouraging them to trust our clients' story, believe in their offerings, and become an advocate of their brands.
Personality:
Professional, Creative, Approachable, Somewhat unexpected, Transparent, Without Bullshit
Core Values:
People want to believe and trust. They do not want to hear lies, big words, and empty promises. They have greater access to information than ever before. They know that knowledge is power and they wield this power like a weapon in the brand battles on line and on the streets. As an ally, they will wield this power on our clients’ behalf. Wounded and jaded, they may become your largest enemy. They are real people, and we are real people. Let’s talk like real people.
